The English faced many problems while finding the source of the Nile, they went through disease and long travels. Both Richard Burton and John
Speke suffered major problems. Richard Burton got a spear through his face and
elephanttitus and John
Speke got deaf in one ear and
tourted by African natives. They also traveled about 6 months both ways over run rocky terrain they ran low on supplies because some of
there people deserted them.
Also when they did find the source of the Nile they decided to name the lake Victoria. This is strange because they only found the lake for England. There were already African Natives living around the lake this is an example of Imperialism.
The reason the English had such an easy time trying to conquer parts of Africa is becuase the English had advanced equipment such as guns. They could easily survive the rough African terrains.
